Breadcrumb-less Fried Chicken
If you love fried chicken as much as I do, then you need this recipe in your life. I'm all about a savory, crispy piece of fried chicken, but sometimes, the calories just aren't worth it. I came up with this super easy, super quick recipe for my own version of fried chicken using only flour and a couple of eggs (no breadcrumbs) which is great for sandwiches, wraps, salads, pasta dishes, and pretty much anything. Pair it with your favorite dipping sauce and serve it at your next Super Bowl Party -- being optimistic that we'll be able to host those this year (although it's not looking like that's a possibility).
Total Time: 45 minutes | Prep Time: 15-20 Minutes | Cook Time: 20-25 Minutes (total)
Ingredients:
2 to 3 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breast tenders, raw
1/2 cup of flour
1 teaspoon Trader Joe's Vegan Chicken-less Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Trader Joe's Everyday Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Aleppo Pepper (depending on your spice preference)
2 eggs
Expeller Pressed Canola Oil or any vegetable oil
Green onion (for garnish, if desired)
Method:
1. Prepare your chicken by removing the tendon from the tenderloin. I use a hack I came across on TikTok, and now I can't have chicken tenders without removing the tendon-- it is so easy and 100% worth it! Check it out here.
2. In a medium-sized shallow bowl (or pie plate), combine flour, Chicken-less Seasoning, Everyday Seasoning, Garlic Powder, and your desired amount of Aleppo Pepper.
3. In another medium-sized shallow bowl (or pie plate), beat two eggs.
4. Using a fork or tongs, dip your tenders, one by one, first into the egg mixture then into the flour mixture.
5. In a large saute pan, heat a generous amount of your canola oil over medium heat. When the oil is hot enough, begin frying. Place coated chicken tenders in pan, cooking 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown, or when chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
6. Garnish with green onion (if desired) and pair with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
This is one of favorite recipes and I can't wait for you to try it out for yourself! It's totally customizable but I found that this particular blend of ingredients makes for a savory and spicy piece of chicken. I love to eat it with Buffalo Sauce and Ranch. Let me know what sauce you'd pair with it in the comments :)/
Best,
Alina
